Junk Yard Dog - Sold
This is a Hound Dog model with the first of its kind ‘living’ Iron coat.
This is a solid Honduran Mahogany body on this inside, the metal coat is a very special finish- its real metal. Cold to the touch and aged using a specific process to make the guitar look as though its been kept in the back of a rusty old pickup since the 30’s. After the metal is aged to a point that i am happy with, a clear lacquer is applied to halt any further corroding, and leaving a smooth to the touch finish. This Hound Dog is the first of its kind using this finish.
The neck is also mahogany with an ebony fingerboard. The headstock faceplate and pick guard are also finished in the aged Iron.
Pickups are a custom set from Tim McNelly of McNelly Pickups. In the bridge is a ‘Wild Ranger’ and a ‘Stagger Swagger’ in the neck position, both aged by Tim himself to match in with the rest of the instrument.
Bridge is a Tele style half bridge and with a surface mounted Bigsby B5 Tremolo. Again, both carefully aged by hand.
This guitar has a beautiful tone, the neck pickup gives stunning cleans and beautiful warm tones whilst the bridge has a heavy, punchy attack. Rock, Classic rock, Blues and especially slide style and Delta style playing…this guitar will easily and effectively lend itself to any and all the above.
